NSLI for Youth
The US Department of State through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI for Youth) provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students to learn less commonly taught languages in summer, semester, and academic-year overseas immersion programs.
NSLI for Youth encourages beginning, intermediate, and advanced language learners with a passion for learning languages, communicating across cultures, and living abroad to apply.
The first NSLI-Y groups of 2009-2010 are traveling to China, Egypt, India, Jordan, Korea, Morocco, Russia, Taiwan, Tajikistan and Turkey this summer. For information on NSLI-Y programs for Summer 2010, Academic Year 2010-2011, Fall 2010 and Spring 2011, be sure to revisit the site in August.
